Hurrys Chi-Town Adventure
Earlier this month, Bridget, Ethan and I spent the weekend in Chicago and introduced our little man to the “Windy City”. We got to get away as a family and experience Chicago together and it was great to see the city during the Christmas season, all decked out in holiday decorations.
We stayed at Hotel 71 which is in a great location downtown on the Chicago River, within walking distance to some downtown hot spots. We arrived on a Friday evening and started the wknd out with a pizza delivered from Giordano’s, one of our favorite Chicago pizza spots and spent the rest of the evening getting settled. The Hurry family loves pizza (especially Chicago style)!
Saturday, we got to spend the day walking around the city, checking out some shops. We took Ethan through Macys (Chicago’s original Marshall Fields) so he could see all the decorations and toys they had displayed. We also picked up some world famous Frangos Mint Meltaway Chocolates and stopped by the Walnut Room briefly to check out the amazing Christmas tree setup there. We then spent the remainder
of the morning in Millenium Park and had lunch at Park Grill, a restaurant right in front of Cloud Gate (otherwise known as “The Bean”. ) There was an outdoor ice skating rink right in front of the restaurant, so we had a great view of all the action from our window seat. We relaxed at the hotel in the afternoon and headed back out for the evening for a stroll down Chicago’s “Magnificent Mile” and had dinner at foodlife, located in Water Tower Place.
Sunday morning, we had breakfast at the Tempo Cafe, had some great food there and wrapped up our Chicago visit shortly thereafter. It was nice to get away for the weekend. Enjoy the pics!
